Parent Testimonials

“My daughter has dyslexia and slower processing. Carrie met her exactly where she was and helped her steadily build her understanding of foundational maths. Long division was a turning point.”

— Parent, Year 5–6 pupil

“Carrie reignited my son’s passion for learning during a very challenging period. She created a calm, safe space where he felt understood and supported as an individual. She took time to build trust, adapting her approach to his needs and interests. Over time, we saw renewed confidence and a genuine love of learning return. We are incredibly grateful for the difference she made.”

Frequently Asked Questions

A few common questions from parents. If you’d like to ask anything else, you’re welcome to get in touch.

Why would a group of four suit my child?

Small groups allow teaching to be closely matched to pupils’ current understanding. The Education Endowment Foundation reports that carefully targeted small-group tuition can lead to an average of +4 months additional progress over the course of a year.

In groups of four, pupils also learn by explaining ideas, hearing alternative strategies and building on one another’s thinking — with support pitched within their current stage of development.

How are groups formed?

Groups are carefully matched by current attainment, pace and confidence. Sessions only run once a suitable group of pupils is formed.

What happens in the first session?

The first session focuses on understanding each child’s current confidence and approach to learning. There are no formal tests — just structured tasks and careful observation.

Is tutoring only for children who are struggling?

No. Small-group tuition can support children who need foundations secured, who benefit from structure, who are lacking confidence, or who would thrive with more opportunity to explain their thinking.

How are payments made?

Fees are paid half-termly in advance to secure a child’s place within the group.

Payments are collected securely via direct debit using GoCardless. Once registered, you will receive a simple online mandate to set this up.

What if my child finds the group challenging?

Careful matching is central to how I work. If concerns arise, I will discuss them openly with you and review whether the group remains the right fit.
